Ok, Will They Fire Tyrone NOW?
The Apple Cup. That was pathetic. The talent gap between these two teams is huge, and YET, Tyrone Willingham can get it done, blowing another lead. I WAS supportive of Tyrone, I was optimistic. I was willing to give him time. 3 years is enough, he has them going backwards, and he has better players than last year. Was he distracted by his son’s football game ? Was he distracted by the Michigan job? The Michigan State job? It’s not hard to beat the cougs- EVER. If he really wanted to stay at UW, he would won that game 40-3. But let’s face it, he really doesn’t want the job, so lets get someone who does want the job. If UW is going to be a big time football program AGAIN, then they have to send the message that losing seasons are not tolerated, and questionable coaching gets punished. Otherwise, every recruit will just go to USC, or outside the Pac 10, where they can get on TV more, and get to a BCS bowl.In Rick Neuheisel’s first three years, his teams finished 1 or 2 on the Pac 10. THAT’s what gets a recruit’s attention. So now, there is no excuse left to keep Tyrone another year, MAYBE if he beat Wazzu, but NOW? No, this is a good time to make a change for the better, a younger coach, a UW coach, someone who cares, gets exited, knows what means to be a Husky, and knows what it means to beat the cougs. Someone like Jim Mora.
